UPPER CLASS RECORDINGS
JOINS THE EMI FAMILY AS NEWLY ACQUIRED
CANADIAN ASSOCIATED LABEL
Good times are indeed rolling in the offices of Upper Class Recordings Inc., the Canadian-based label responsible for the world’s favourite brand of Electronic Pop and Hip Hop jams. Upper Class is ecstatic to join forces with the mighty EMI Music – the world’s largest independent music company.
EMI Music immediately assumes distribution of Upper Class’ quickly growing catalogue, which infamously includes all 3 albums by electro-pop hero The Russian Futurists and the debut albums by MSTRKRFT Al-P’s former electro-pop group girlsareshort, electro-rockers The Cansecos, electronic rap artists Food For Animals and the recently Polaris-Nominated rap-sensation Cadence Weapon.
“EMI Music Canada is very excited to be involved with the UC family. This is an extremely creative and innovative label with an artist roster that is already finding global support! The Canadian indie world is on fire and this is the next label poised for success at home and throughout the galaxy.” – Deane Cameron, President of EMI Music Canada.
The leisure pursuit-turned pro “upstart Canadian label Upper Class has struck gold. Its roster seems to produce blissed-out electronic pop masterpieces like an assembly line” (Lostatsea.net) Upper Class Recordings continues its quest in 2007 by unleashing the recent UK/European monster-pop-collection release by The Russian Futurists Me, Myself & Rye and the long-awaited sophomore album by The Cansecos Juices!, with more exciting projects soon to be announced.
As the first releases of 2007 come together, Upper Class and EMI’s current focus is Cadence Weapon and his debut album Breaking Kayfabe. A national tour concluded recently that saw Cadence sharing the stage with Grime Superstar and #1 MTV TRL artist Lady Sovereign (Def Jam) and Party-Rap’s finest quintet Jurassic 5 (Interscope) through November.
Associated Labels Director, Tony Tarleton beams about the label’s arrival, “I am thrilled to have Upper Class join the family at EMI Associated Labels. The world-class artists that they bring into the fold and their boundless energy as people have given the already high-energy environment at ALD a welcome boost of adrenaline. We’re pumped…”
“In these thrilling times for music, we’re proud to partner with EMI and carry the torch into the future. EMI’s history represents everything we love about music, and it’s a natural fit for Upper Class.” – UC Managing Partners, Orly Bohbot and Gareth Jones.
